A new program to donate Brick Math materials to schools in Vermont (our home state)!

Objective:
To donate Brick Math materials to schools in Vermont that are interested in trying a new curriculum for teaching math—one that teaches using the manipulative of LEGO®-compatible bricks. We want to bring this hands-on, screen-free, effective, and fun method of learning math to schools around the state to help Vermont K-8th grade students build success in math.
Program Scope:
Ten schools in Vermont will receive Brick Math materials that will cover three math content areas for eight students. These materials include:
  • Three paperback Brick Math Teacher Editions (one for each content area)
  • Twenty-four paperback Brick Math Student Editions (eight for each content area)
  • Four Brick Math Brick Sets (one for every two students)
(Note: Each school’s set of Brick Math VT materials has a retail value of $610.)

Schools can choose how they want to implement Brick Math VT. For example, schools may prefer to incorporate Brick Math for remediation in a small-group setting; they might use Brick Math in their intervention efforts; they could try Brick Math with students who are ready to go beyond their grade level in mathematics; or they might incorporate Brick Math in their after school programming.
Requirements:
To apply for the Brick Math VT grant initiative, complete a short online questionnaire explaining how the school plans to incorporate Brick Math. Please describe:
  • Grade(s) that will use the Brick Math VT materials
  • Setting to implement the Brick Math VT program (i.e., small-group, resource room, special ed, gifted, afterschool club, etc.)
  • Objectives for students who will learn with the Brick Math VT program
Schools will also be required to report to Brick Math within three months of receiving their Brick Math VT materials. They will note whether Brick Math has been successful at reaching their stated objectives. If possible, results of pre- and post-tests will be shared with Brick Math (without student-identifying information). These reports may be used by Brick Math for marketing purposes.
Selection Process:
A selection committee will review all questionnaires submitted and will choose ten schools to receive Brick Math VT materials.
Deadline for submissions: November 30, 2023.  Selections will be made by December 15, 2023. Brick Math VT materials will be sent to awarded schools by January 2, 2024.
